Bhubaneswar(Newshub Desk)The Primary School Teachers’ Association in Odisha has raised concerns over the state’s declining education system, urging the government to address vacancies and create new teaching positions.
With over 90,000 posts unfilled, schools are grappling with classroom shortages and lack of instructors, negatively impacting students.
The association criticized the government for implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) without strengthening primary education infrastructure.
They argue that teachers hired before 2011 face delays in promotions due to mandatory training requirements, hindering career progression.
A series of demands have been put forth, including:
- Equal pay for equal work
- Permanent employment for contractual teachers
- Health insurance coverage
- Revised transfer policies
- Immediate recruitment for vacant posts
Despite repeated discussions, the state government has not fulfilled these requests, prompting the association to plan protests next week.
Leaders insist that without decisive action, Odisha’s education sector will continue its downward trajectory.
