In a significant move aimed at enhancing judicial diversity and improving justice delivery across India, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the transfer of Justice Dixit Krishna Shripad from the Karnataka High Court to the Orissa High Court. This recommendation is part of a broader plan to relocate seven High Court judges, as finalized in Collegium meetings on April 15 and April 19, 2025.

Justice Shripad’s transfer now awaits approval from the Central Government. Once confirmed, he will officially assume his new role in Odisha’s judiciary, bringing with him years of expertise and experience.

Justice Shripad has had a remarkable legal journey. Born on July 20, 1964, he was appointed as an Additional Judge in February 2018 and became a Permanent Judge in January 2020. Prior to his judicial appointment, he served as the Additional Solicitor General for Karnataka, earning recognition for his legal acumen.

The Collegium’s move to transfer seven judges—including Justice Hemant Chandangoudar to Madras High Court, Justice Krishnan Natarajan to Kerala High Court, and Justice Neranahalli Srinivasan Sanjay Gowda to Gujarat High Court—underscores its commitment to fostering judicial inclusivity and efficiency.

Justice Shripad’s appointment in Odisha comes at a time when the state is witnessing significant administrative and judicial developments. His expertise is expected to strengthen the judicial system and contribute meaningfully to key legal proceedings.

As the Orissa High Court prepares to welcome its new judge, this transfer highlights the judiciary’s dedication to building a dynamic and effective legal system that adapts to India’s evolving needs.
