Malkangiri, Odisha  (Newshub Desk )– The scorching summer heat and persistent drought have led to a severe food shortage in the forests surrounding Malkangiri.

As a result, wild animals—including large pythons—are entering urban areas in search of sustenance.

On Sunday night, a 9-foot-long python, weighing approximately 20 kilograms, was spotted near the residence of a local named Panchanan Das in the SDO Colony. Alarmed by the sight of the massive reptile, residents quickly contacted a snake rescue volunteer.

The expert, identified as Nanu, safely captured the python and released it back into the nearby forest.

Locals expressed concerns about the growing presence of wildlife in human-inhabited areas, particularly for children who frequently play outdoors.

Experts suggest that the ongoing environmental changes are forcing wild animals to adapt, sometimes in ways that bring them dangerously close to humans.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and report any further sightings of wild animals. With unpredictable climate patterns continuing to affect ecosystems, the boundary between human settlements and wildlife territory grows increasingly blurred.
