Bhubaneswar, May 9, 2025(Newshub Desk) – The Odisha Women and Child Development Department has decided to cancel the scheduled state-level Mother’s Day celebration on May 11.
Officials stated that the move was made as a gesture of sensitivity toward the ongoing national situation.
While the formal event will not take place, the winners of the Mother’s Day selfie contest will still be honoured during the upcoming Subhadra event.
This approach allows the department to recognise the occasion while maintaining a sense of restraint amid the larger context.
A spokesperson from the department emphasised that the decision reflects a balance between celebrating motherhood and respecting the present circumstances.
