Bhubaneswar, May 20, 2025 – Odisha has unveiled its Adventure Tourism Guidelines-2025, marking a significant step toward transforming the state into a premier global destination for thrill-seekers.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, finalised this ambitious roadmap, which is poised to revolutionise Odisha’s tourism sector.
The guidelines aim to harness Odisha’s diverse landscapes—from rafting in Satkosia to hot air ballooning over Hirakud Dam—into a world-class adventure tourism ecosystem.
The initiative is expected to boost tourism revenue, empower local youth with specialised training, and attract private investments under the Odisha Tourism Policy-2022.
“Our vision is clear—when people think of adventure tourism in India, Odisha should be the first destination that comes to mind,” said Chief Minister Majhi, emphasising the “Think India, Think Odisha” approach.
- Strategic Site Development: Adventure hotspots will be mapped across all 30 districts.
- Youth Empowerment: Certification programs will train local youth in water, land, and air-based adventure sports.
- Private Sector Engagement: The ‘Go Adventure’ portal will facilitate investments and approvals for businesses.
- Diverse Offerings: Activities such as trekking, paragliding, kayaking, and more will showcase Odisha’s natural beauty.
- Economic Growth: The initiative is expected to drive employment, particularly in rural and tribal regions, while bolstering local hospitality and tourism businesses.
Tourism officials, including Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja and Tourism Commissioner Balwant Singh, have assured swift implementation of the plan, highlighting Odisha’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth.
With these guidelines, Odisha sets the stage for a thrilling new era of tourism, promising adventure enthusiasts experiences that rival global standards.
