Bhubaneswar, June 12,(Newshub Desk) – In a major boost to Odisha’s aviation sector, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today inaugurated the first direct international flight from Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi.
Operated by IndiGo, the service took off from Biju Patnaik International Airport at 9:35 AM under the B-MAAN scheme.
The flight, scheduled thrice weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, is expected to enhance trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between Odisha and the Middle East.
CM Majhi emphasised that the air corridor would strengthen economic partnerships and boost investment opportunities, positioning Odisha as a strategic travel destination.
Odisha has been steadily improving its connectivity, with recent domestic additions linking Bhubaneswar to cities like Goa, Jaipur, and Dehradun, and Jharsuguda to Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Indore.
Industry experts and passengers welcomed the move, anticipating easier access to global markets.
The direct Bhubaneswar-Abu Dhabi service marks a key milestone in Odisha’s aviation journey, potentially paving the way for more international flights in the near future.
