Bhubaneswar, July 9, (Newshub Desk)— The Odisha government has carried out a major reshuffle in the state police hierarchy, appointing senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sanjeeb Panda as Additional Director General (ADG) in charge of Anti-Naxal Operations and the Special Intelligence Wing (SIW).

Panda, a 1994-batch officer currently serving as ADG (Training) and Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA), will now oversee the state’s anti-insurgency efforts and intelligence coordination.

He will report directly to the Director General & Inspector General of Police, Odisha.

In his absence, Anup Kumar Sahoo, IPS (RR 2006), currently Inspector General of Police (Training), will take over as interim Director of BPSPA.

The reshuffle also includes a key exchange between Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs): Akhileshwar Singh (RR 2009), formerly DIG of South Western Range (SWR), Koraput, has been posted as DIG, SIW, Bhubaneswar.

In a reciprocal move, Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh (RR 2010), ex-DIG, SIW, has taken charge as DIG, SWR, Koraput.

Officials say the strategic reshuffle is aimed at enhancing counter-insurgency operations and improving field-level intelligence capabilities, especially in vulnerable regions like Koraput.
