Puri, July 9(Newshub Desk) A major security lapse surfaced at the revered Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri after four unidentified youths illegally entered the temple premises by scaling the Meghanada Pacheri, the temple’s fortified outer wall, during the sacred Niladri Bije rituals on Tuesday.

The incident, caught on camera and widely circulated on social media, has triggered serious concerns among devotees and authorities alike.

Although no harm was reported, the breach has exposed critical vulnerabilities in the temple’s perimeter security.

In response, the Srimandir administration swiftly constituted a special inquiry committee, headed by the Development Administrator, along with the OSD (Security), Sanitation Officer, and Works Officer, to investigate the unauthorized entry.

The probe will examine CCTV footage, security deployment patterns, and infrastructure weaknesses around the Meghanada zone.

Officials are also reviewing how such a breach could occur during Niladri Bije, a day marked by heavy footfall and elaborate ceremonial processions.

Temple insiders have hinted at potential tightening of access protocols and physical reinforcements along vulnerable stretches of the wall to prevent future incidents.
