Mumbai, July 9(Newshub Desk): Vedika Prakash Shetty, former personal assistant to Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly embezzling nearly Rs 77 lakh over a two-year period.

According to Mumbai police, Shetty—who worked with Bhatt and her production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions, between 2021 and 2024—was responsible for handling financial documents and travel logistics.

Between May 2022 and August 2024, Shetty is accused of submitting forged invoices for professional and travel expenses, which Bhatt reportedly approved without realising the deceit.

Investigations revealed that the funds were transferred to a third-party account linked to Shetty’s associate and then funnelled back to her.

The fraud came to light after Bhatt’s mother, veteran actress Soni Razdan, lodged an FIR at Juhu police station earlier this year.

Following the complaint, Shetty absconded, moving between Rajasthan, Karnataka, Pune, and Bengaluru to evade arrest. She was finally located in Bengaluru and brought to Mumbai on a transit remand.

Mumbai police confirmed that further inquiries are ongoing. As of now, Alia Bhatt and her team have not issued a public statement on the matter.
