Bhadrak(Newshub desk): In response to relentless rainfall and rising flood risks, the Bhadrak district administration has ordered the closure of all government and private schools across four vulnerable blocks—Dhamnagar, Tihidi, Chandabali, and Basudevpur—for Wednesday.

District Collector Dilip Routaray issued the directive late Tuesday, citing severe waterlogging and deteriorating weather conditions.

Bhadrak recorded a staggering 159 mm of rainfall on Wednesday morning, the highest in the region, prompting concerns of extended flooding.

While students have been exempted from attendance, teaching and administrative staff are required to report to their respective institutions.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, further intensifying the flood threat.

Urban and rural areas alike are grappling with waterlogged streets and disrupted access.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will reassess conditions for Thursday. Residents have been advised to stay indoors and follow safety protocols.
