Senior leader Bhakta Charan Das has been appointed as the new President of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) by Congress party President Mallikarjun Kharge.
Das’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen Congress’s position in Odisha ahead of future elections.
His son, Sagar Das, is currently an MLA for the Bhabanipatna Constituency.
Bhakta Charan Das has a long political career, having served as an MLA in the Odisha Assembly and as a Lok Sabha MP three times.
He has been an advocate for the rights of tribal communities, farmers, and marginalized groups.
