Bhubaneswar, May 22, ( Newshub Desk) – In a strategic move to reinforce party discipline and governance, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has constituted a State-Level Disciplinary Action Committee.
The seven-member panel, headed by senior leader Debi Prasad Mishra, is expected to streamline internal affairs and restore confidence among party workers and supporters.
The formation of this committee comes at a critical juncture as the BJD prepares for the upcoming Panchayat by-elections, following setbacks in the 2024 general elections.
Party insiders suggest the initiative aims to prevent factionalism, ensure accountability, and project a unified front as the party strategises its electoral comeback.
Key responsibilities of the committee include enforcing party discipline, strengthening governance, maintaining a cohesive image, and legitimising internal authority.
The BJD hopes that these measures will help minimise controversies, uphold public trust, and demonstrate its commitment to stability under Naveen Patnaik’s leadership.
Political analysts view the move as a calculated step to restore credibility in Odisha’s evolving political landscape, now dominated by the BJP.
With the Panchayat elections on the horizon, the effectiveness of this disciplinary panel will be crucial in determining the BJD’s future course.
