Bhubaneswar, July 1(Newshub Desk): The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association has decided to postpone its mass leave protest following a high-level late-night meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.

The protest had been planned in response to the shocking assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo inside his office during a public hearing.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Majhi, accompanied by the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, Commissioner of Police, and Advocate General, assured the delegation of stringent legal action against the accused.

So far, three persons—Jeevan Rout, Rashmi Mahapatra, and Debashis Pradhan—allegedly linked to the BJP Yuva Morcha, have been arrested for their involvement in the attack.

Authorities indicated that Sahoo was dragged out of his chamber and physically assaulted, with initial reports hinting at an attempted abduction. A case has been registered under several serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“In reverence to the CM’s appeal, the mass leave is not called off, but postponed,” the OAS Association said in an official statement.

The Association also urged all district units to adopt resolutions condemning the incident and reaffirmed their commitment to safeguard public servants from intimidation.

Expressions of solidarity poured in from across the administrative spectrum, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Odisha Finance Service (OFS), and Odisha Secretariat Service (OSS) cadres.

These expressions underscore growing concern over increasing attacks on government officials.

The incident has stirred political controversy, especially with the alleged involvement of the ruling party’s youth wing members. Investigations into the motive behind the assault are ongoing.
