Bhubaneshwar, India (Newshub desk) – Just a day after India’s strategic strikes under Operation Sindoor, tensions flared again along the Line of Control (Loc) as the Pakistani Army resorted to unprovoked cross-border shelling.
The attacks, which occurred overnight from May 7–8, targeted multiple sectors including Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor.
Indian forces responded proportionately, effectively neutralising the source of aggression. Civilian areas, especially in the Karnah region, bore the brunt of heavy shelling, prompting emergency evacuations as residents sought safety.
This latest escalation follows India’s precise targeting of nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok) in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. Pakistan’s retaliatory shelling in Poonch and Rajouri only added to regional instability.
The recurring hostilities underscore the fragile state of ceasefire agreements and highlight India’s readiness to counter cross-border threats.
As diplomatic channels remain tense, regional security experts warn that continued escalation could further destabilise the region.
