(Newshub Desk) In a groundbreaking move, the Odisha government, under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved a ₹4,474.49 crore redevelopment plan to elevate Cuttack’s SCB Medical College & Hospital to AIIMS++ standards. The revamp, slated for completion by June 2026, will transform the institution into a state-of-the-art healthcare hub with 3,796 beds, advanced diagnostic centres, cutting-edge surgical units, and enhanced academic infrastructure.
This upgrade is a part of the Odisha government’s larger healthcare modernisation initiative worth ₹9,200 crore, involving extensive expansions in several key medical facilities, including VIMSAR Burla, MKCG Berhampur, Rourkela Government Hospital, and Capital Hospital Bhubaneswar.
Additionally, ₹895.89 crore is allocated to expand the Acharya Harihar Cancer Institute, Cuttack, enhancing its capacity to 1,127 beds.
Chief Minister Majhi emphasised the administration’s commitment to revolutionising healthcare across the state and ensuring equitable access to top-quality medical services.
