Bhubaneswar: Skill development programs across Odisha are helping thousands of youth, especially women, gain industry-relevant training and build sustainable careers in the garment and textile sector.
One such example is Argyarupa Barik, a young woman from Odisha who trained as a Sewing Machine Operator under the DDU-GKY project. Starting her career in one of Shahi’s Bangalore factories, she quickly progressed to become a Floor Supervisor. Today, she is back in Odisha as a Trainer at the Baripada Centre, mentoring others and contributing to her community.
This is among several success stories emerging from Shahi Exports’ skilling initiatives in the state. In collaboration with government-led programs such as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA), and Samarth (Ministry of Textiles), the company has trained and placed thousands of workers from Odisha.
