Bhubaneswar ( Newshub Desk): A shocking case of fraud has surfaced in Odisha, where an individual impersonating a senior official from Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s office scammed a government engineer out of Rs 2 lakh.
The accused, identified as Janaki Ballav Mohapatra, allegedly threatened the victim with an unwanted transfer unless he paid the sum.
The victim, Superintending Engineer Pratap Kumar Haripal, initially complied with the demand but resisted when Mohapatra attempted to extort an additional Rs 5 lakh.
The ordeal led Haripal to file a complaint at the Airfield Police Station, triggering an ongoing investigation into the fraudulent activities.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant against similar scams and report any suspicious activity involving fake government representatives.
