The India vs. England 2nd ODI in Cuttack was interrupted for 35 minutes due to a floodlight failure caused by a short-circuit issue with the generator at Barabati Stadium.
India was batting at 48/0 in 6.1 overs when the malfunction occurred. Both teams returned to the dugout during the interruption.
The Barabati Stadium, which is relatively old, recently upgraded its floodlights to modern LED towers in 2022. However, the generator issue led to an unexpected pause in the match.
This ODI was the first 50-over game held in Cuttack since November 2019 and the first international match since India hosted South Africa in a T20I three years ago.
The Odisha Cricket Association highlighted the need for further renovations, including improving seating facilities with covered stands.
