Sukinda, July 30, 2025- To mark the 121st birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna J.R.D. Tata, Tata Steel Foundation organised a free health camp for the local community near Saruabil and Kamarda Chromite Mines. The camp received a good response, with 120 people attending. Among them were 53 men and 67 women, including 16 children aged between 0 and 10 years, and 104 individuals above the age of 10.
The camp provided free medical check-ups, basic health tests and medicines. It aimed to offer immediate healthcare support to people in the surrounding areas. During the camp, 14 people were found to have high blood pressure, 3 were diagnosed with diabetes and 9 reported fever. A total of 36 individuals underwent haemoglobin tests. Among them, 18 had normal levels, 15 were found to have mild anaemia and 3 had moderate anaemia.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Naveen Shrivastava, Head Mining at Saruabil and Kamarda Chromite Mines, Tata Steel, Dr. Bhagirathi Soren, Consultant Medical Officer, Tata Steel Foundation, Dr. Saswat Satpathy, Medical Officer, Tata Steel Limited and staffs from Tata Steel Foundation, Sukinda.
This health camp was held in memory of J.R.D. Tata, whose vision focused on the well-being and development of people. Tata Steel Foundation continue to follow his vision by supporting communities in the regions where they operate.
