(Newshub desk)Odisha is bracing for intense monsoon activity as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issues orange and yellow alerts across multiple districts.

Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Bhadrak are under orange alert, with forecasts of very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning. Residents have been advised to stay indoors and avoid travel.

Yellow warnings have been sounded for Balasore, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Deogarh, where heavy rainfall is expected.

Thunderstorm alerts are also in place for Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Authorities are closely monitoring low-lying areas for waterlogging and have placed disaster response teams on standby. Fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea due to rough conditions.

With the Kharif season rainfall exceeding expectations, concerns are rising over potential crop damage in vulnerable regions.
