According to his brother, Hasib Ahmed, who filed an FIR with the police, the threat demands one crore rupees and originates from an individual named Rajput Sindar.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
This incident comes in the wake of similar threats received by India’s cricket coach, Gautam Gambhir, last month. Following that, the Delhi Police provided security to Gambhir.
The shocking development has raised concerns about the safety of prominent sports figures in India.
With Shami currently representing Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, the authorities are expected to take swift action.
