Bhubaneswar, May 21, ( Newhub Desk)– The Odisha government has introduced significant amendments to its civil service policies under the Odisha Civil Services (Pension) Amendment Rules, 2025.

This revision grants civil servants a 90-day window to withdraw their resignation, provided it aligns with public interest and their absence does not exceed three months.

Previously, officers could only retract their resignation under compelling circumstances that did not compromise their integrity, efficiency, or conduct.

However, the new rule adds a stricter condition: the vacancy for the same or equivalent post must still be available at the time of withdrawal.

Additionally, the retirement gratuity ceiling has been revised, benefitting government employees and judicial service officers:

  • Employees retiring on or before December 31, 2023: ₹15 lakh maximum gratuity.
  • Employees retiring from January 1, 2024 onwards: ₹20 lakh maximum gratuity.
  • Judicial service officers retiring from January 1, 2024 onwards: ₹25 lakh maximum gratuity.

The amendment is expected to bring greater flexibility to civil servants while ensuring administrative continuity.

The Finance Department has emphasised that these policy changes aim to retain experienced personnel and accommodate unforeseen circumstances affecting officers.
