Bhubaneswar(Newshub Desk): In a significant cybercrime development, Odisha Police’s Cyber Crime Unit has apprehended a man for allegedly circulating a doctored and objectionable video targeting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The accused, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigation, is believed to have intentionally shared the morphed content across multiple platforms with the aim of defaming the state’s top leader.
The video, reportedly edited using AI tools, quickly gained traction on social media, prompting a swift response from the state’s digital forensics team.
Authorities confirmed that the content was not only fake but also crafted in a manner intended to spread misinformation and incite political tensions.
Cyber Crime officials launched a probe after receiving multiple complaints from concerned citizens and BJD party functionaries.
The accused was tracked through digital surveillance and arrested at a location outside Bhubaneswar. Electronic devices used in the creation and dissemination of the video have been seized for forensic analysis.
Police have urged the public to remain cautious about unverified media content, especially during politically sensitive periods.
