In a landmark achievement for women’s empowerment in Odisha, the Subhadra Yojana has reached over one crore women, offering both financial assistance and skill development opportunities. At a high-profile media interaction in Bhubaneswar today, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida expressed heartfelt appreciation for the pivotal role of media in the scheme’s extensive reach.
Organised by the Department of Women and Child Development, the event gathered over 200 media professionals, including senior journalists and editors, to foster discussions aimed at enhancing the scheme’s effectiveness. Parida commended the media for their proactive efforts in disseminating guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to the grassroots level, enabling widespread awareness and enrollment.
“The media has played an instrumental role in making the Subhadra Yojana a household name. It has empowered women by bridging gaps and providing them with vital financial and skill development resources,” said Parida.
The scheme has become a game-changer for women in Odisha, promoting economic independence and promising enriched opportunities through targeted skill development programs. In her address, Parida also emphasised the government’s commitment to incorporating suggestions from media representatives to refine the program further.
Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister lauded the tireless contributions of Anganwadi workers, Mo Seva Kendra staff, Jan Seva Kendra personnel, and other grassroots workers in enrolling over one crore beneficiaries in record time. Senior officials, including Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, participated in the conclave and engaged with media representatives on governance-related matters. The forum underscored the collaborative spirit between the government and media in driving social welfare initiatives.
Odisha is now poised as a leader in gender equality and economic empowerment, setting a benchmark for inclusive development with the transformative Subhadra Yojana.
