In a proud moment for Odisha, two exceptional talents, Bhagyashree Satpathy from Jajpur and Rishav Mohanty from Bhubaneswar, are set to represent the state at the finals of the Waves 2025 Animation Film Competition in Mumbai. Known as one of India’s premier platforms for budding animators, the competition has garnered attention for bringing forth a wave of fresh creativity from across the country.
Bhagyashree and Rishav’s entry, a heartwarming animated short titled “Threads of Tradition,” takes viewers on a vibrant journey through Odisha’s traditional textile crafts, beautifully weaving the cultural heritage of their homeland into every frame. Their submission has already received high praise for its innovative storytelling and visual artistry.
Speaking ahead of their performance, Bhagyashree said, “It’s an honor to showcase Odisha’s culture on such a prestigious platform.” Rishav echoed her sentiment, adding, “The journey has been incredible, and we hope our work inspires more people to explore animation as a medium of cultural expression.”
