Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Empowerment, and Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, reviewed the progress of mega pipe water supply projects in Bolangir and Sonepur districts on Saturday.
According to an official press release, there are currently 20 mega pipe water supply projects being implemented in rural areas of these districts—14 in Bolangir and 6 in Sonepur. Additionally, 8 projects are underway in the urban areas of the two districts.
Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo emphasized the state government’s commitment to prioritizing farmers’ interests and addressing the needs of residents. He stated that the timely completion of these projects would provide essential irrigation facilities to farmland and resolve the drinking water issues faced by the people of Bolangir and Sonepur.
He instructed officials to expedite project implementation and to personally monitor progress by visiting the respective villages and towns. The review indicated that nearly all projects are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The meeting was attended by Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; SN Girish, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department; and Vineet Bhardwaj, Director of Drinking Water. They provided updates on the current status and future outlook of the projects.
