Bhubaneswar, ( Newshub Desk)– In response to the unseasonal rainfall triggered by a low-pressure system between May 27 and May 30, 2025, the Odisha government has pledged swift compensation to farmers and residents whose crops and homes have been damaged.
A high-level virtual review meeting was conducted by key officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, and Special Relief Commissioner Deoranjan Kumar Singh.
District Collectors from various regions joined the discussion to assess the extent of the damage and expedite relief measures.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that Odisha received an average of 41.9 mm of rainfall, with eight districts recording over 50 mm, including Kendrapara, Kalahandi, and Jagatsinghpur.
Minister Suresh Pujari assured that the government is taking proactive steps to ensure compensation reaches every affected individual, emphasising, “No one will be left out of the relief process.
District Collectors have been directed to conduct thorough assessments and submit damage reports promptly, allowing immediate financial assistance to farmers and residents.
This declaration of unseasonal rainfall as a state-specific natural disaster underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding affected communities and ensuring rapid recovery.
