The Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Lieutenant General Gurubir Pal Singh, held a meeting today with the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, at Lok Seva Bhavan to discuss plans for expanding the NCC within the state.

During their discussion, it was revealed that the current NCC cadet count in Odisha, which is 60,000, will rise to 90,000. To support this increase, new NCC branches will be established in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and various other schools throughout Odisha.

To enhance cadet training, three NCC training centres will be created in Cuttack, Berhampur, and Sambalpur. There are already 5 acres of land available in Cuttack and Berhampur, with an additional 10 acres designated for use in Sambalpur.

Furthermore, the state government will provide the necessary personnel to set up the NCC Group Headquarters in Koraput. It was also agreed that NCC cadets will undergo flight training at Jharsuguda Airport, supported by Rs. 1.5 crore allocated by the state government for the construction of a hangar.

The Chief Minister reiterated the significance of the NCC as a prestigious organization in India, emphasizing its role in developing the potential of young people and engaging them in national service. He instructed the state government to offer all possible assistance for the NCC’s expansion efforts in Odisha.

The meeting also included Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunja Bihari Dhal, and senior NCC officials. To ensure smooth collaboration between the NCC and the state government, Colonel Sagar Mohanty, the NCC Director, along with Aravind Agrawal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Higher Education Department, will work to accelerate the execution of these initiatives.
