Kenduli, Khordha(Newshub Desk) – May 3, 2025: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated a ₹7 crore redevelopment project at Jayadev Pitha, the birthplace of the legendary Sanskrit poet Jayadeva.

The announcement was made during Jayadev Jayanti celebrations, reinforcing the state’s commitment to preserving Odisha’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

The project aims to transform Jayadev Pitha into a centre of literature, devotion, and tourism, inspired by Jayadeva’s renowned work, Geeta Govinda.

The planned enhancements include sprawling green landscapes, flower gardens, ten symbolic lotus ponds, a Dasavatar-themed plaza, and a grand entrance gate. Additionally, craft stalls, groves, and food courts will be set up to merge traditional aesthetics with modern tourist-friendly amenities.

Speaking at the event, CM Majhi emphasised the importance of honouring Odisha’s historical figures. “Jayadeva’s legacy is deeply intertwined with our cultural identity.

This initiative ensures his contributions remain a guiding light for future generations,” he stated.

Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi has been entrusted with overseeing the project’s progress, while the Culture, Tourism, and I&PR departments have been instructed to draft a comprehensive development blueprint.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Deputy CM Pravati Parida, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, and MLA Babu Singh, reflecting Odisha’s united approach to cultural preservation through infrastructure development.
