(Newshub Desk)In a significant move to streamline the paddy procurement process and ensure transparency, the Odisha government has announced the implementation of an electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) system for farmers.
This initiative aims to eliminate duplicate and fraudulent entries in the farmers’ database, making the procurement process more efficient and farmer-friendly.
The e-KYC verification will be mandatory for all farmers registered under the paddy procurement automation system. State authorities have assured that assistance will be provided at paddy procurement centres and Common Service Centres (CSCs) to help farmers complete the digital verification process smoothly.
Agriculture officials emphasised that the e-KYC process will not only improve data accuracy but also expedite payment disbursement timelines.
The move has been welcomed by several farmer organisations, citing it as a long-overdue step toward accountability and systemic reform.
This digitisation measure is part of Odisha’s broader push toward tech-enabled governance in the agriculture sector.
