Odisha Targets Inflation Reduction, Economic Growth in 2025 Budget

In the ongoing Odisha Budget Session 2025, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan unveiled the state government’s strategic focus on curbing inflation and boosting economic growth. Highlighting key financial targets, he emphasized the aim to enhance the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and increase per capita income.

The session, which commenced on February 13, 2025, following an all-party meeting chaired by Speaker Surama Padhy, is scheduled to continue until April 5, 2025. This period will encompass discussions on various fiscal policies and developmental programs.

For the fiscal year 2024-25, Odisha’s GSDP was projected at ₹9.26 lakh crore, reflecting an impressive growth of 11.2% over the previous year. The current budget seeks to surpass this growth rate by implementing targeted measures to stimulate economic activity across various sectors.

In alignment with the Union Budget 2025’s fiscaldeficit target of 4.4% of GDP for FY26, the Odisha budget addresses fiscal responsibility while promoting consumption to create a conducive environment for sustainable economic growth.

The comprehensive approach taken in the 2025 budget underscores the government’s dedication to fostering economic prosperity and enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Odisha.
