The Odisha government will jointly implement the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and Mamata Yojana to enhance maternal health.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has decided to enhance the health of pregnant and postpartum women and encourage the birth of girl children.

Pregnant women will receive an additional ₹2,000 per year for the birth of a girl child, while families will receive ₹10,000 for a boy child and ₹12,000 for a girl child.

Assistance will be provided for a maximum of two children, except for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).

Anganwadi workers and helpers will receive increased compensation.

The total estimated cost for the combined implementation is approximately ₹511 crore for the next financial year, with contributions from both the central and state governments.

Around 450,000 pregnant and lactating women are expected to benefit from this initiative.
