Bhubaneswar, July 15, (Newshub Desk) — The Orissa High Court has taken a strong stance against deteriorating public infrastructure and sanitation in Cuttack, directing multiple government agencies to submit detailed reports on corrective measures.

Acting on visual evidence presented by local media, the division bench—Justices SK Sahoo and V Narasingh—highlighted multiple areas such as Khapuria, Gandarpur, and Press Chhak as being “virtually not motorable.”

Surprisingly, recently repaired stretches have already begun showing premature damage, raising concerns about the quality and accountability of work carried out by the Roads & Buildings Division and the Cuttack Municipal Corporation.

The court has ordered affidavits detailing ward-wise road conditions, repair timelines, and clauses enabling financial recovery from contractors who fail to meet standards.

In a parallel directive, the bench raised concerns over unhygienic conditions in government-run schools, including Maria Bazar School and Nuabazar High School.

The School and Mass Education Department must submit an affidavit by July 31, confirming whether facilities like clean drinking water and gender-specific toilets are available in all non-private schools across the city.

The next hearing is set for August 7, by which time the court expects substantive updates from all concerned departments.
