Paradip Gets New Airport! Odisha’s Grand Push for Air Connectivity

Bhubaneswar, May 2, 2025 (Newshub Desk ): The Odisha government has taken a major step in strengthening aviation infrastructure with the announcement of a greenfield airport in Paradip.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhavan, emphasised modernising air travel facilities to global standards.

In addition to the Paradip airport, the state is fast-tracking the development of Shri Jagannath Airport in Puri to accommodate rising passenger demand and enhance connectivity to the holy city.

The government also unveiled plans to establish heliports in 15 districts, further expanding aerial accessibility across the state.

The Biju Patnaik Aviation Centre in Dhenkanal is set for accelerated development, with the Public Works Department overseeing the project. Other key initiatives include upgrades to Rourkela Airport and improvements to regional airstrips such as Jeypore, Rangeilunda, Malkangiri, and more.

Chief Minister Majhi reiterated Odisha’s vision of building world-class infrastructure to drive economic growth, tourism, and connectivity.
