(Newshub Desk)In a major boost to Odisha’s aviation infrastructure, the Puri Airport project has cleared several key regulatory hurdles, paving the way for its construction and operational rollout.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu informed the Rajya Sabha that the project has received in-principle approval, along with a no-objection certificate from the Ministry of Defence, facilitating land transfer and strategic coordination.
Additionally, the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) has recommended environmental clearance, addressing one of the most critical regulatory checkpoints.
The proposed airport, once completed, will be a game-changer for eastern India, enhancing connectivity, tourism, and economic growth.
Phase 1 of the airport is designed to handle 4.6 million passengers annually, positioning Puri as a strategic aviation hub.
With rising air travel demand and regional development goals, the project is expected to transform Odisha into a gateway for eastern India.
