Puri, June 18,(Newshub Desk): A major embarrassment has struck the Odisha Police as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pravat Kumar Pradhan, posted at Chandanpur Police Station in Puri district, was apprehended by Vigilance officials while accepting a bribe of Rs  15,000.

Pradhan, who was investigating a land dispute, allegedly demanded the sum from a complainant to extend undue favour to him and his brother in the ongoing case.

Acting promptly on the complainant’s tip-off, Odisha Vigilance launched a sting operation and caught the officer red-handed.

The entire bribe amount was recovered and seized from his possession.

Following the trap, simultaneous raids were conducted at two locations connected to Pradhan in search of further evidence.

A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 12/2025). The investigation is ongoing.

The incident has reignited public concerns about corruption within law enforcement agencies, even as authorities vow stringent action.
