Cuttack, 30 July 2025: Tata Power, through its skill development arm, Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), in collaboration with TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), has inaugurated the TPSDI Green Energy Skill Centre in Cuttack, Odisha.
The initiative marks a major step towards empowering the youth of Odisha with future-ready skills in the renewable energy sector and supporting sate and India’s clean energy transition.
The Centre was inaugurated by Shri Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, Cuttack, in the presence of Shri Gajanan Kale, Chief – Odisha Distribution Business, Tata Power , Shri Arvind Singh, CEO – TPCODL, and Shri Alok Prasad, Head – TPSDI.
The TPSDI-Cuttack Centre will offer practical, industry-aligned training in renewable energy technologies, including solar power system installation, maintenance, energy efficiency and electrical safety. These programs are mapped to NCVET and NSDC standards and will be support the Government of India’s flagship initiative, Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY) and State Government’s efforts to mainstream rooftop solar adoption.
Participants will receive nationally recognised certifications, enhancing their employability in the fast-evolving green energy domain. The centre aims to train youth from Odisha on Solar Photo Voltaic Technology related skills.
To further enhance field readiness and technical capability in the power distribution sector for rooftop integration, TPSDI also announced the launch of a comprehensive Student Handbook for DISCOM Officials on Grid-Connected Rooftop Solar Systems. Designed as a practical reference tool, the handbook will provide essential insights on safety, system design, installation protocols, and performance monitoring for rooftop solar deployments, contributing to more efficient and safer solar adoption in the field.
TPSDI is an institute of excellence in energy sector training, offering over 200 modular courses across Green Energy, Safety, Transmission & Distribution, Power Systems, and Soft Skills. With a strong focus on hands-on, practical training, TPSDI has trained over 3.43 lakh people, clocking 1.3 million person-days, including more than 50,000 beneficiaries from affirmative action groups and over 18,000 women in the last decade. It currently operates 7 full-fledged Training Hubs in Mundra (Gujarat), Shahad, Trombay, Vidyavihar (Maharashtra), Wayanad (Kerala), Maithon, Jojobera (Jharkhand), and Rohini (New Delhi) and 5 Spokes in Bikaner (Rajasthan), Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), Balasore (Odisha), and Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu), making this newly inaugurated Hub -13th in India.TPSDI has ambitious plans to establish 7 additional centres in the state of Tamil Nadu,Uttar Pradesh ,Assam for green energy skilling this financial year.
