We are living in a time when adoption of sustainable practices is no longer a choice but necessity. Multi stakeholder approach is needed to mitigate the risk on all three fronts – people, planet and profit. We have been collaborating with all stakeholders on energy efficiency, decarbonisation, water stewardship and biodiversity. We at Tata Steel have been furthering our efforts in this direction and I am happy that they are acknowledged.”
The recognitions are a testament to the steel major’s holistic approach towards resource conservation, pollution control, biodiversity preservation, and community engagement. The Saruabil Chromite Mine has been known for adopting advanced eco-friendly mining technologies. The mine has a Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) with a processing capacity of 1200 cubic meters of wastewater per hour. Likewise, FAP Athagarh has consistently implemented energy-efficient systems and waste management practices to minimise its environmental footprint. The Plant has leveraged IoT-based smart water management systems to enhance water use efficiency resulting significant reduction in total water intake and raw water consumption in slag cooling.
