Bhubaneswar: The serene campus of Utkal University has turned into a hotbed of unrest as two major student organisations—ABVP and BSJD—have clashed in their demands for campus reforms.
The Biju Student Janata Dal (BSJD) locked the university’s main gate, calling for the removal of unauthorised settlements they allege are hubs of criminal activity.
Their other demands include enhanced security and the construction of a boundary wall. Meanwhile, the ABVP has launched a hunger strike at the Vice-Chancellor’s office, advocating for administrative reforms, a year-round library, and a drug-free campus. Tensions remain high as both groups intensify their protests, despite intervention attempts by the Vice-Chancellor and local authorities.
