Balasore – July 5, 2025 – TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing uninterrupted and high-quality electricity to consumers across Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur and Keonjhar districts. In a press conference held at the Company’s corporate office at Remuna Golei in Balasore, CEO Mr. Gajanan Kale outlined the company’s strategic focus on strengthening power supply infrastructure and improving service delivery in the region.

Mr. Kale emphasized that seamless power delivery is TPNODL’s top priority. Since Tata Power took over the power distribution responsibility in Northern Odisha, consistent efforts have been made to modernize the grid and enhance customer service. Initiatives like missed-call-based new connection requests, digital bill payments and extensive underground cabling projects are already in motion. These infrastructure upgrades are especially critical to ensuring power continuity during cyclones, storms and floods. Over the past four years, ₹1,295 crore has been invested in strengthening the power sector in this part of the state.

TPNODL has also adopted advanced technologies for better efficiency. All 11kV and 33kV grids are now managed through centralized Power System Control Centers (PSCC), allowing for real-time monitoring and quicker fault resolution. A growing employee base has contributed to substantial improvements in power reliability, with a notable reduction in unannounced outages and low-voltage issues.

Ensuring safety remains a key focus for TPNODL; all transformers without fencing are now being secured with proper boundary walls and barricades to protect both people and animals. These measures reflect the company’s proactive stance on workplace and public safety.

In line with the central government’s renewable energy goals, TPNODL is actively promoting the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Mr. Kale encouraged consumers to take advantage of the scheme, which provides up to 300 units of free electricity and supports the installation of 3 kW rooftop solar panels. Consumers can obtain further information through TPNODL’s customer care centers, offices or online portals. Among its key achievements, the company has successfully electrified the remote Similipal region in Mayurbhanj using solar power. An additional ₹400 crore is currently being invested to enhance infrastructure and ensure a more resilient power network.

Beyond power distribution, TPNODL is playing a transformative role in community welfare through its CSR initiatives. Its mobile healthcare units have become a critical lifeline for rural populations, especially during natural calamities. Over 2.74 lakh people have received free medical consultations and medicines through these services. These mobile units offer dependable care in areas where medical infrastructure is limited or inaccessible.

The company also places strong emphasis on education and youth empowerment. TPNODL continues to support underprivileged students and runs skill development programs to equip young individuals with tools to achieve self-reliance. Initiatives like Digital Villages and Anubhav Kendras are helping communities gain access to digital services and awareness programs, strengthening grassroots engagement.

Present at the press meet were Chief of Operations Mr. Nilesh Potphode, Chief Commercial and CSR Mr. Jaydeep Roy, Chief Financial Officer Mr. Siladitya Sengupta, HR Head Mr. Ramendra Banik. TPNODL PRO Mr. Chittaranjan Pradhan was also present and convened and oversaw the entire event.

TPNODL has truly set a benchmark in transforming the power sector in Northern Odisha. With its sustained efforts in infrastructure development, green energy promotion and community service, the company continues to light up lives and empower the future of the region.
