Puri, (Newshub Desk) – On the sacred occasion of Anasara Panchami, the revered deities Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra received the age-old Phuluri Tela Seva—a sacred herbal treatment rooted in centuries-old traditions.

This unique ritual, performed during the deities’ 15-day convalescence after Snana Purnima, is believed to rejuvenate their divine forms before the much-awaited Rath Yatra.

Crafted with 24 natural ingredients—including pure sesame oil, fragrant flowers like Ketaki, Boula, Champa, and medicinal herbs—the Phuluri oil is specially prepared by the Bada Odia Matha and stored underground for nearly a year to enhance its healing properties.

This ceremonial application signifies the restoration of divine vitality after the deities’ ceremonial bath using 108 pitchers of aromatic water.

Experts in Jagannath culture affirm that this moment bridges divine care with community faith, culminating in the public’s glimpse of the rejuvenated deities during Naba Jaubana Darshan.

The act not only strengthens religious fervour but also enhances the cultural grandeur of Rath Yatra preparations, which this year incorporate modern crowd management systems, AI-powered surveillance, and mobile guidance apps for devotees.

As the Holy Trinity readies to journey from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple, lakhs of devotees await a spiritually uplifting spectacle that blends heritage with innovation.
