Berhampur, November 2025: Reinforcing its commitment to deliver quality power to rural consumers, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has successfully commissioned a 2.01 km new link line from Udaypur to Mallikud under the Manamunda Section in Boudh district. The Link Line was inaugurated by Shri Kanhai Charan Danga, Hon’ble MLA, Kantamal, in the presence of Shri Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, Collector and District Magistrate, Boudh, along with the senior officials of the district administration and TPSODL.

The newly energized line will benefit around 400 consumers in Mallikud village under Baragaon Gram Panchayat. Earlier, the area was being supplied power from the Manikpur feeder under Ghantapada Primary Substation. However, due to frequent elephant movements in the Manikpur feeder area, power supply to Mallikud was often disrupted, especially during the crucial harvesting season. This caused inconvenience and losses to local farmers and rural consumers dependent on electricity for their livelihoods.

The new link from Udaypur feeder (Kantamal Primary Substation) provides a reliable alternative power source, ensuring continuous electricity supply even during wildlife movement in adjoining areas. This strategic interconnection will strengthen the local network and significantly enhance reliability for consumers.

A large section of the beneficiaries includes Lift Irrigation installations that draw water from nearby rivers, streams, or ponds using electric motors and pumps. These installations are crucial for agricultural activities, enabling farmers to irrigate their fields efficiently and sustain multiple crops throughout the year. Frequent power interruptions earlier hampered their functioning, affecting crop yields and rural income. With this new connection, farmers can now operate these irrigation points smoothly without fear of sudden outages during the harvesting season.

This initiative underscores TPSODL’s mission to empower rural Odisha through resilient infrastructure and consumer-focused power delivery.
