Burla, 28 October 2025: In anticipation of the approaching Cyclone “Montha”, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has undertaken extensive preparedness measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply and public safety across its operational areas. The company has strategically deployed manpower, machinery, and essential materials to enable swift restoration in the event of any disruption caused by the cyclone.
Manpower and Machinery Deployment:
Over 5,200 personnel, including engineers and technical staff, have been deployed across divisions. All Maintenance crew teams are on alert with full readiness, while specialized project and restoration teams have been stationed in Kalahandi districts. 52 Pole Masters and Rapid Response Teams comprising of 1200 personnel are positioned at different substations in Kalahandi District to carry out work, supervise and support field operations round-the-clock.
More than 150 utility vehicles, cranes, and trailers have been mobilized for restoration work. 20 high-capacity dewatering pumps, 12 portable DG sets, and mobile lighting towers have been arranged to support low-lying and flood-prone areas in Kalahandi since Kalahandi is expected to be affected most in TPWODL area as per IMD press release although all divisions under TPWODL have been put on high alert. All field staff have been equipped with insulated tools, safety gear, and communication support for real-time coordination.
Material Readiness:
To ensure material readiness, TPWODL has stocked 4,800 PSC poles, 2,600 tubular poles, and 210 distribution transformers, along with sufficient conductors, cables, and accessories. Divisional stores are operational 24×7 with dedicated logistics for emergency dispatch.
Control Room for Monitoring:
A control room has been setup at Bhawanipatna of Kalahandi district to monitor the Electricity supply related issue during the cyclone and coordinate restoration work. Satellite phone connectivity has been set up between Circle office at Kalahandi and Corporate office at Burla. Standby teams from Bargarh and Bolangir Circle have also been placed on alert for emergency movement and reinforcement.
