Balasore, October 25, 2025: TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and Government of Odisha, is taking major strides in implementing the Tata Affirmative Action program (TAAP) to empower socially and economically disadvantaged communities across Northern Odisha.
The initiative focuses on creating opportunities for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Persons with Disabilities and Economically Underprivileged Women by improving access to education, employment, entrepreneurship and digital inclusion.
Reinforcing its commitment to inclusive growth, TPNODL is leveraging its training infrastructure and social programs to bring lasting change at the grassroots level. The company is also encouraging greater participation of Affirmative Action groups in entrepreneurship and industrial value chains.
Under its flagship Urja Sakhi program, over 6,200 women have become self-reliant. Additionally, TPNODL has provided digital literacy to more than 4 lakh people, vocational training to 1,460 trainees and energy conservation education to 65,000 students through Club Energy.
The company has also extended free coaching to 1,230 students, imparted basic education to 1,600 women, and delivered primary healthcare services to over 2.74 lakh individuals.
With a strong focus on the Tata Affirmative Action Policy, TPNODL continues to drive social equity, empower communities, and build a more inclusive future for Northern Odisha.
