Two member of a Family Killed in Kalahandi Road Crash; One Critical

Kalahandi,  September 22. In a devastating road mishap in Odisha’s Kalahandi district, two members of a family lost their lives while one remains critically injured.

The accident occurred around 9:30 AM near Deheli under Narla police limits, when a speeding pickup van collided with a motorcycle carrying Budha Barik of Terlo village, his wife, son Arab, and daughter.

Budha and his son died instantly. His daughter succumbed to injuries at the Narla Community Health Centre, while his wife was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition.

The tragedy sparked public outrage. Locals and grieving relatives staged a blockade on the Bhawanipatna–M. Rampur state highway, placing the bodies on the road and demanding compensation and swift justice.

Police forces were deployed to manage the situation and initiate an investigation into the cause and culpability of the crash.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the compensation demands. The incident has reignited concerns over road safety and reckless driving in the region.
