In the early hours of today, police in the Boudh district received information about the smuggling of a substantial quantity of ganja, totaling 2,720 kg, near Panthai Chack on the Baghiapada and Khandbar road.
Acting on this intelligence, the police conducted a raid targeting three individuals suspected of possessing the narcotic substance. However, the suspects fled the scene, and the police are continuing to carry out raids in various locations to apprehend them.
The accused—Tarani Suna, Devendra Suna, and Purna Sahu, all residents of the locality—were the focus of today’s surprise operation. A police case, numbered 75/2025, has been registered regarding this incident, and an investigation is currently underway.
This operation is part of a vigorous campaign initiated by the State Director General of Police, Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, aimed at curbing the smuggling of ganja and other narcotics. This campaign began on November 1 of last year.
To date, 591 cases have been registered, and over 25,000 acres of ganja cultivation have been completely eradicated. The campaign will continue until March 31.
It’s important to note that ganja is typically harvested in February and March, so the police are conducting special operations to prevent this practice.
