TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) undertook swift restoration measures following severe Kalbaisakhi conditions that impacted several parts of Bhubaneswar, including Sisupalgarh, Satya Vihar, Kesura and adjoining areas, on 27th May, Wednesday evening.

Immediately after the storm impact, emergency response teams and field personnel were mobilised across affected areas to undertake restoration activities on priority. Operation and maintenance teams worked continuously on the ground to remove obstructions, attend faults, and restore supply safely and efficiently with continuous monitoring of the network.

The severe thunderstorm, accompanied by heavy rainfall and strong winds, caused temporary disruptions after tree branches, hoardings, banners, and other external objects came in contact with electricity infrastructure at multiple locations across Bhubaneswar, including Sisupalgarh, Satya Vihar, Kesura and nearby localities. During the peak impact period, the system witnessed a sudden demand drop of nearly 270 MW within a span of 15 minutes.

Power restoration activities were carried out in a phased manner to ensure early normalisation of affected feeders and consumer supply while maintaining all required safety protocols.
