May 14, 2026: Public awareness regarding solar energy adoption is steadily increasing across the Cuttack district under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) is actively promoting the installation of rooftop solar systems under the scheme, making clean energy solutions easier, simpler, affordable and convenient for households.
As part of its outreach initiative, village-level awareness meetings are being organized across different parts of Cuttack district to educate consumers about the benefits of rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
An awareness meeting was recently conducted at Jagannathpur village under Nishchintakoili Fagol Gram Panchayat. During the meeting, residents were informed about the simple process of installing rooftop solar panels under the PM Surya Ghar scheme. Hundreds of villagers participated enthusiastically in the awareness programme and expressed keen interest in adopting solar energy solutions for their homes.
Speaking on the initiative, Arvind Singh, CEO, TPCODL, said, “TPCODL is committed to supporting the Government of India’s vision of promoting clean and sustainable energy solutions. Through continuous awareness programmes and consumer engagement, we are encouraging households to adopt rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This initiative will not only help consumers reduce their electricity expenses but also contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.”
TPCODL-Elec. Circle, Cuttack has witnessed significant growth in installations under the PM Surya Ghar initiative during 2025 and 2026. Starting with 46 installations in January 2025, the numbers showed a steady upward trend throughout the year, reaching 369 installations in December 2025.
The momentum further accelerated in 2026, with installations rising sharply to 455 in January and peaking at 1,384 installations in March 2026. A total of 6,364 installations have been achieved so far, reflecting the increasing consumer interest and adoption of rooftop solar systems in the Cuttack Electrical Circle area.
Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’s ULA model, consumers can avail a 1 kW rooftop solar system by paying only Rs. 1,875. The rooftop solar system comes with a 25-year warranty, while maintenance services will be provided by the DISCOM for a period of 5 years at no additional cost, ensuring reliable and hassle-free service for consumers.
Through such awareness initiatives, TPCODL continues to strengthen its commitment towards sustainable energy adoption and empowering rural consumers with clean, green and affordable power solutions.
