Bhubaneswar: Shyam Metalics & Energy Limited, one of India’s leading integrated metal producers, strengthened its sustainability and decarbonisation efforts with the deployment of 100 Electric Vehicles (EVs) across its plant premises, comprising both light and heavy motor vehicles. The initiative aims to promote cleaner mobility across the company’s manufacturing operations while supporting its broader focus on sustainable and responsible manufacturing.
The deployment of 100 EVs, spanning both light and heavy motor vehicles across the company’s plants, reflects Shyam Metalics’ focus on integrating cleaner technologies into core operational processes. Alongside its planned transition of commercial vehicles to green alternatives, the initiative is expected to contribute towards a more sustainable mobility ecosystem across its manufacturing facilities while supporting the company’s long-term decarbonisation objectives and vision for responsible growth.
As part of its broader green initiatives, the company is also planning to progressively transition all its commercial vehicles across its plants to green vehicles, further strengthening its commitment to cleaner and more sustainable mobility. This roadmap reflects the company’s intent to embed low-carbon transportation solutions across its manufacturing footprint and advance its long-term decarbonisation objectives.
The initiative forms part of Shyam Metalics’ broader sustainability and decarbonisation agenda, which focuses on resource efficiency, operational sustainability and technology-led solutions across its manufacturing ecosystem. For a large-scale metal’s producer, where mobility, logistics and material movement are integral to plant operations, the adoption of electric and other green vehicles represents an important step towards embedding sustainability into everyday industrial processes.
The company continues to pursue a sustainability-led approach across its integrated manufacturing operations, with a focus on decarbonisation, captive power, resource efficiency, technology adoption and responsible manufacturing. The EV deployment further strengthens this approach by bringing cleaner mobility into the operational environment.
