Tata Power-led Discoms in Odisha are redefining what it means to be an energy company, going beyond electricity supply to spark transformation across communities. In just one year, their inclusive development programs have helped in unlocking opportunities for women, artisans, and marginalized groups across the state.

From promoting digital and financial literacy among 12 lakh women, to enabling sustainable livelihoods and electrifying remote tribal areas, this mission is lighting up not just homes but futures.

Through targeted education and empowerment efforts, 3,500+ women from underserved slums in Bhubaneswar and far-flung villages in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar have gained essential computer skills and digital literacy. These initiatives are bridging the digital divide and preparing women to thrive in a connected, modern economy, contributing to the larger goal of digitally and financially literate citizens.

Tata Power-led Discoms are also reviving Odisha’s traditional crafts by empowering 340 artisans in Palm Leaf Carving and Pattachitra Painting. Supported by master craftsmen, market linkages, and e-commerce access, these artisans have seen a 30–40% rise in household incomes, transforming heritage into a source of pride and prosperity.

Women-led self-help groups are emerging as green entrepreneurs, crafting eco-friendly jute products now sold in both local markets and to institutional buyers. These ventures reflect the Discoms’ belief that sustainable business is a powerful tool for both economic upliftment and environmental responsibility.

With 2,000+ women engaged in meter reading, billing, and collection roles through women self-help groups across Odisha, they’re not just earning livelihood, they’re leading the charge in making Odisha’s power sector more inclusive and resilient.

The transformation reaches deep into tribal belts, too. In districts like Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, and Rayagada, 200 remote villages now have access to reliable electricity—powering schools, energizing health centres, and driving small local enterprises.

Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms are showing how electricity can power far more than just homes, it can spark hope, equity, and lasting change.
